WHY?

Sometimes I look
Up into the sky
Thinking and wondering
Then asking "Why?"

Why can't I fly
Up, up and away?
It would be much easier
Than facing today.

Why do I do
The things I do?
If I didn't
Would I be with you?

Why do all
The stars shine down
Yet, no brightness
In me is found.

Why can't I grab
One tiny star
To brighten my life
Without getting charred?

Empty

While cleaning out some of my junk drawers I ran across some old poems I had written; here is one of them.

Living but not alive
A body without a soul
Once grain of rice
In a very large bowl.

Walking around
In an empty shell
Does anyone know?
Can anyone tell?

Not really sleeping
But yet, not awake
A soul is what
The body can't make.

Will I Be Heard?

Once I die

Will I be heard?

Once I die

Will hearts be stirred?

The darkness of the sky

Will mask the end

When I try to fly

But end up dead.

When the darkness enshrouds me

I won’t be heard

But, when just darkness I see

Will your heart be stirred?

Not many people seem to care

While on earth I remain

But would you care

If death I attain?

Would your life change

If I were to die?

Or would it be the same

And you continue to fly?

I don’t believe

That I’ll be heard

I don’t believe

That your heart will be stirred

Once I die

I will be gone

No more sky

No more dawn

But when you wake

Will you see the sky?

Or will it shake

You when I die?

Life is a very short road

And when it ends

Will your heart

Be my souls abode?

A Child’s Star

Way up in the sky, there is a bright shining star

Small in the distance, but always watching from afar.

The star that’s shining as brightly as the sun

Might at times seem to take away the fun.

Always turning the day into night

But the truth is, that star is guiding you with her light.

A mother is what this shining star is

She shines, and hugs you, and comforts you with a kiss.

A mother is this bright shining star

Knowing all and healing her children’s scars.

She never doubts that her children are the best

But, to make them stronger she puts them to the test.

A mothers’ smile can sweep away fear

While her touch can wipe away tears.

Her eyes can bore right through you

But, they can be comforting too.

There’s nothing a mother won’t do for her babe

She’d even die, if her child it would save.

You are your children’s bright shining star

That would do anything, just to heal your child’s scar.

You are a mother

That your children wouldn’t change for another.

You are your children’s star!
